Summary: It's time to let go... ***************************************************** Letting Go by Susan Frankovich ~~~~~~~ I've been watching them tonight. For the past several hours, I've been watching them try to sort through the mess I've made. And now in the darkness of night, I watch them still. He put up a fight at first, refusing to close his eyes, refusing to let his body and his mind rest, but she calmly pulled him into her arms and placed his head on her lap. She ran her fingers through his hair and rubbed his back and whispered in his ear until finally, he let his eyes flutter shut and his fists unclench. And then he let himself sleep. And she let herself cry. For awhile, her tears quietly slipped down her cheeks, but then they started coming faster and she began to lose control. Tightly squeezing her eyes, she bit her bottom lip and continued to stroke his hair until finally she had no more tears left. And then finally she slept too. It's almost morning now, and as I watch her wake up and look at him with such love in her eyes, I am more certain than ever that my son's going to be all right. And that it's time for me to let him move on.
